Hello again, dear friend!
Yesterday, I left you with a bit of a cliffhanger about the personal journey I've been on. Today, I'm excited to open up about this evolutionary time and perhaps you may find it of value.
A New Chapter in Health and Self-Care
Last October, amidst the chaos of life, I made a decision that profoundly changed my outlook. I realised that while caring for others and juggling life's demands, as well as having a couple of niggling health issues, I had put my own well-being on the back burner. It was time for a change – a recommitment to radical self-care.
My Radical Self-Care Mission
This journey wasn't just about losing weight, though it was part of it, and by the end of the 12 weeks, I had lost 14kgs just before Christmas. And that is before even setting foot in a gym! I still have more to lose to hit my goal, but it was never about a hard and fast plan. It was also about redefining what health means to me. It involved overhauling my diet, yes, but also reshaping my lifestyle and mindset. As I navigate through perimenopause, I realise this was about so much more than physical health. It was about emotional and mental well-being, too.
Embracing Change with Open Arms
One of the key changes I made was re-introducing my own 12-week health and fitness program. Why 12 weeks? It’s long enough to see significant changes and short enough to stay focused and motivated. This is precisely why my book “The Body Plan: Simple, effective and flexible strategies for permanent weight loss in the real world” focuses on the first three months. I divided my goals into manageable phases, focusing on different aspects of health – from nutrition and exercise to mental resilience and emotional balance.
The Impact of Small, Consistent Steps
I started with simple goals: improving my daily habits, examining my relationship with food, and ensuring I got my steps in each day. It wasn't about drastic changes but about consistent, mindful actions.
Entering Phase Two: A Deeper Commitment
As I gear up for the next 12 weeks, I'm adding my beloved but neglected strength training into the mix. This isn't just about physical strength; it's about building inner strength and resilience.
No Regrets, Just Lessons Learned
Through this journey, I've learned the importance of conscious choices. I enjoyed these holidays without guilt because I knew I had a solid plan to return to. It’s about understanding and managing life's ups and downs with self-compassion.
Life is a Beautiful, Winding Road
Remember, our paths are never linear. We grow and change, and our health and well-being need to adapt with us. It’s about understanding ourselves deeply and moving through life with clarity and self-love.
I Want to Hear From You!
Now that I've shared some of my story, I’m curious: would you like me to share more of my health and weight loss plan with you and exactly what I did? Is this of interest to you at all? Are you setting health goals for 2024? What does self-care look like for you? Let’s inspire each other with our stories and experiences.
Looking forward to your responses!
Cheers,
Robyn :)
Would love to get my motivation back and am keen to hear how you made new habits to build a stronger you. Clearly the weight loss is a bonus and comes back around to help the mind but I need help with starting so would enjoy hearing about your 12 week growth and habits.
