I loved this story which resonated deeply with me. It was so nice to see you were in my current home town. I'm actually through and out the other side of menopause for which I'm grateful but of course there's always a new set of challenges. A consistent practice of keeping strong, and flexible in mind and body has what as helped me through.

Ahhh thank you so much Jane — I’m so glad it resonated ❤️

And wait… do you mean Brisbane? I’m a Brissie girl too! Just living a little further north now up on the Sunshine Coast.

Also — where were you when I needed you?! 😆 I love chatting to women who are through to the other side — always so curious to hear how it felt from your vantage point.

And yes — staying strong and flexible (physically and mentally!) really is everything. Thanks again for reading and sharing your perspective xx

Yes Brissie, just 5ks out of city. Ahhh, the Sunshine Coast (Marcoola) is our favourite place to holiday, you lucky thing.

This is your best so far! You write so well. You have amazing parents. I’m lucky to spend time with your Dad twice a week at boxing and we’ve witnessed the mental toll on him of late. Yet he always has a great sense of humour and tries out those hilarious physical challenges on us too!! I’m aware that you and I are around the same age and my Dad is definitely not as able and well as yours. I’m determined to keep moving and at this time of my life, try to defy the odds and charge through this peri-menopausal period head on. X Emily

Aw Emily, thank you so much — that means the world to me 🥹 I’m so glad Dad has you lot at boxing to keep him going (and to witness his ridiculous antics 😂). He truly has been carrying a lot lately but never lets it stop him from spreading laughs or trying to make someone’s day, or keep everyone fit.

And yes — here’s to moving our bodies, holding our heads high, and charging through this wild midlife/menopause/peri-era together. It’s not for the faint-hearted, but it definitely helps knowing we’re not doing it alone I'm with you, I want to age strong, so I'm trying my hardest to work at it as well. Ashamed to say my parents are both fitter than me right now! ❤️ xx
