I am excited to share with you a little from my personal journey with the Autoimmune Protocol (A.I.P.) diet that I discovered in 2020 when the world was thrust into fears around our health. I used A.I.P. as the basis for my own healing protocol. It transformed my health in many ways, including reducing inflammation and pain during my menstrual cycle and healing my adult acne when nothing else from my teens to now has ever worked!
As women, we are constantly bombarded with information on how to lose weight, look younger, and relieve pain. The A.I.P. diet addresses all of these concerns and more. An elimination diet is a holistic approach to managing autoimmune disorders by addressing underlying causes and symptoms through diet and lifestyle changes.
During my elimination phase, I removed foods that are common triggers of autoimmune symptoms, such as gluten, dairy, soy, nightshades, and processed foods. The results were astounding. Not only did I effortlessly lose weight, but my skin cleared up, my monthly period pain disappeared, and my skin/face looked younger.
The A.I.P. diet emphasises nutrient-dense, whole foods that support the growth of beneficial gut bacteria. This can improve digestion and nutrient absorption and reduce symptoms such as bloating and constipation.
I am excited to share with you my experience and understanding in the form of a mini guidebook that will help guide you through the A.I.P. principles. This book includes a comprehensive list of allowed and prohibited foods, information on sourcing and preparing ingredients, and tips for success on the A.I.P. diet.
It’s important to note that this book and the A.I.P. isn’t the entire picture, nor is it recommended to use long-term unless advised by a functional medicine practitioner. Still, it’s the starting point I used to supercharge my health and energy levels, heal my gut, and lose weight.
